Multifocal artificial intraocular lenses clinical trial

Full Title: Visual and Patient reported outcomes of a diffractive trifocal and a non-diffractive spiral optic presbyopia-correcting intraocular lens: a randomised controlled trial (G-PERFECT Study)

Date:

Dear patient,

We would like to invite you to take part in a research study at Moorfields Eye Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. This study is for patients who suffers from cataract in both eyes and do not have any other eye conditions.

The aim of the study is to compare two multifocal intraocular lenses implanted during cataract surgery, with a focus on potential differences in spectacle independence and patient satisfaction.

  • Clareon PanOptix lens – a trifocal lens that helps with near, intermediate, and distance vision.

  • RayOne Galaxy lens – a lens designed to give a continuous range of vision with less chance of glare or halos.

If you choose to take part, you will be randomly assigned to receive one of the lenses for both eyes. Taking part is completely voluntary. Your decision will not affect your care in any way.

Please find enclosed a Patient Information Sheet which describes the study in more detail. If you would like more information or are interested in joining the study, please contact us at Mon-Tue Tel: 0207 566 2108 / Wed-Fri Tel: 0207 566 2285.

Thank you for considering this opportunity to help improve cataract surgery for future patients.

Yours Sincerely,

Mr Vincenzo Maurino
