Ocular oncology in London and Moorfields has a long history with the first ocular oncologist Mr. Robert Foster-Moore appointed to St. Bartholomew’s Hospital in 1926. Mr. Foster-Moore introduced radioactive plaque treatment for choroidal malignant melanoma. In 1997 London, along with Liverpool and Sheffield, was designated a Centre of Excellence in England by the National Commissioning Group (now known as NHS England). These services are tertiary referral services meaning most patients have already seen their local ophthalmology team prior to referral.
We have 3 fellows at any one time. Fellows have completed all their core ophthalmology training, often internationally, and spend one year in our department doing further training in ocular oncology.
If they are not available to take your call, please leave a message and they will call you back when possible.
