Duke Elder Eye Unit to reopen

The Duke Elder Eye Unit at St George’s Hospital will reopen on Wednesday 1 May following an extensive refurbishment.

The refurbished unit improves patient experience of our services at St George's, with refurbished theatres, clinics and waiting rooms that provide a modern and fit-for-purpose environment for our patients. The new unit will provide injection services, pre-assessment and theatre services and has recently been registered with the Care Quality Commission.

During the refurbishment Moorfields operated services from St Anthony’s Hospital. Services at St Anthony’s will cease from Thursday 25 April ahead of services reopening at St George’s on 1 May. The injection unit, which has been operating from City Road during the refurbishment, will move back to St George’s in the week starting 3 June. Patients seen in the injection unit will be sent letters with more information.

We appreciate the patience and understanding of all our patients and staff during the refurbishment and we look forward to seeing you in the new unit. For more information or if you have any questions, please contact Susan Moore, project manager.
