Rachel Sherwell

Lead Counsellor for Adult Counselling and Patient Support Services
PG Dip HI CBT, PG Dip Integrative Counselling, Dip Supervision, BABCP and BACP Accreditation

I am an experienced Counsellor/Psychotherapist, CBT, EMDR therapist and Clinical lead specialising in adult emotional wellbeing, adjustment to sight loss, and psychological support within Ophthalmic care.

At Moorfields Eye Hospital, I lead the Adult Counselling, Health Coaching and Patient Support Services, working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams including nurses, optometrists, ophthalmologists, orthoptists, and specialist support staff.

My focus is to ensure patients receive compassionate, person‑centred care that supports both their emotional and practical needs throughout their sight loss journey.

In my leadership role, I oversee and develop Counselling, Health Coaching and patient support pathways, ensuring high-quality, accessible services for adults across the hospital. I provide clinical and service leadership to the Counselling team and Health Coaches and contribute to service development, safeguarding processes, and cross-departmental initiatives.

I am committed to delivering compassionate, holistic care that recognises the whole person, not just their diagnosis and to ensuring that every adult who comes through our services feels heard, supported and empowered to move forward with confidence and hope.
