I lost the sight in my right eye several years ago, so when the sight in my left eye started to deteriorate, I knew I had to do something about it.
I couldn’t get up and walk anywhere, as I couldn’t see very well. I had to hold on to things when trying to get about. It was just as well that I know my house so well, as it meant that I could feel my way round, but it did make going out very difficult.
The GP was my first port of call, but I quickly made up my mind that I wanted to go to Moorfields Private for my treatment. My sister had been a patient there and she highly recommended it, so I decided to go to the same consultant too.
I'm cataract free and everything's easier. I wish I've done it sooner.
My experience at Moorfields Private was brilliant, from start to finish. The consultant took the time to explain everything clearly and I was able to fit in my appointments and surgery when it was convenient for me.
When the plaster was first removed after my surgery, I was able to see without glasses. I was over the moon. Prior to the operation, the consultant had advised that I would still need reading glasses, but my eyesight has really improved and I can now watch television without glasses again. It’s terrific. My daily life has improved 100%.
I wish I’d done it sooner.
