Miss Pei-Fen Lin is a consultant ophthalmic surgeon at Moorfields Eye Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and Moorfields Private practicing at the New Cavendish Street location. With extensive experience in general ophthalmology, cataract, and emergency eye care, she provides individualised treatment plans and successfully delivers both face-to-face and digital consultations through award-winning services.

Please tell us more about your areas of expertise.

  • Cataract management: Comprehensive care including cataract surgery, lens replacement, intraocular lens (IOL) implantation, and YAG laser capsulotomy.
  • General ophthalmology: Management of dry eye, blepharitis, meibomian gland dysfunction, watery or itchy eyes, allergic eye conditions, diagnosis and monitoring of thyroid eye disease, and punctal plug insertion. Evaluation of abnormal optic discs, suspected disc swelling/papilledema, unexplained vision loss, visual disturbances, primary neuro-ophthalmology, and assessment of double vision.
  • Emergency/urgent eye care: Treatment for acute red eye, sudden visual disturbances or vision loss, flashes and floaters, posterior vitreous detachment, conjunctivitis, corneal abrasion, episcleritis, anterior uveitis, and laser retinopexy for acute retinal tears.
  • Minor procedures: Removal of eyelid lumps and lesions, management of chalazia and hordeola, and incision and drainage of styes.
  • General Eye Health: Comprehensive eye health assessments and ongoing monitoring.

My research focuses on using digital innovation and solutions to enhance ophthalmic care delivery, specifically by implementing strategies to improve cataract and emergency eye care through an award-winning redesign of digital telemedicine services.
