Please tell us more about your areas of expertise.

Neuro-ophthalmology, including ocular myasthenia gravis, optic neuritis and optic neuropathies, visual pathways disorders, papilloedema, idiopathic intracranial hypertension, migraine, and visual snow syndrome.

In addition to my neurology and neuro-ophthalmology training, I am also trained in lifestyle & integrative medicine.

Why do patients come to see you?

Usually, it is upon the recommendation of their optometrists or ophthalmologists, that patients need to see a neuro-ophthalmologist. Reasons include an abnormality of the optic nerve or visual disturbance suspected to be due to a neurological issue.

How your expertise in lifestyle medicine benefits your patients?

Patients often ask me what they can do to improve their condition or general health to feel better. My additional lifestyle medicine expertise enables me to share relevant evidence-based lifestyle medicine approaches as well as practical tips on implementing them, which come from my experience of helping people tackle the challenges they may encounter. The common challenges I encountered in my clinical practice are reflected in a number of practical guides and books that I’ve written for the general public, including books about improving sleep and preventing migraines.

Please tell us about your recent research projects.

I am currently leading and delivering the treatments for a mindfulness research-based study, to treat a condition called visual snow syndrome.

I am part of another study-based research about delivering intervention of sleep and physical activity to treat fatigue in a condition called myasthenia gravis.

I also continue my research for my books for the general public. An upcoming one is about Magnesium and its evidence based benefits for health and wellbeing.
