Paul - my eyes look much fresher

For a long time I felt troubled by upper lid excess skin to the outer parts of my upper eye lids – this is called temporal hooding - and I was trying to figure it out. My profession is within the entertainment industry, so my appearance and image is important for my work, and I felt I had started to look a bit tired.

I knew about Moorfields reputation and contacted them for a list of their consultants. I also did some online research and there were really good reviews about the consultant I decided to see. Part of what I liked was that I felt there was no pressure which I know, happens with some other organisations. At my first appointment, my consultant was very reassuring and he told me that every case was individual.

I trusted his advice and he explained that the procedure should not make someone look completely different from their original self and this is exactly what my surgery achieved – the surgery I underwent is called a cosmetic bilateral upper lid blepharoplasty. The result is very subtle and my eyes look much fresher in their appearance, I also feel fresher as well. It was the result I wanted.

My consultant was really friendly and couldn’t have been more helpful. The surgery was very straightforward and my consultant spoke to me to make me feel very safe and relaxed, and I was kept informed every step of the way. This was especially important to me as I had surgery just at the start of the covid pandemic and before everyone went into lockdown.

Since my operation, only a couple of my most observant friends have commented on my appearance saying “you don’t look as tired as you used to.”

I would certainly recommend having it done to anyone considering it. I waited about two years from originally starting to think about it to the time I actually had the operation. Knowing what I know now, I wish I had it done sooner.
