Moorfields' Stars of 2018

Moorfields’ Stars is our annual event to celebrate the achievements of our staff over the past 12 months.

Moorfields' Stars of 2018

Moorfields’ Stars is our annual award scheme that celebrates the achievements of staff and the contribution made by volunteers across the trust over the past 12 months. We are grateful to Moorfields Eye Charity for supporting this year's awards scheme and award ceremony event.

We have many exceptional people working across the trust, helping us maintain our position as the leading provider of eye health services in the UK and a world-class centre of excellence for ophthalmic research and education.

Moorfields’ Stars includes seven competitive awards: Moorfields Eye Charity award for innovation and service improvement, Moorfields’ star of the year, Moorfields’ team of the year, Moorfields' volunteer of the year, the patient choice award, Moorfields' leadership award and the unsung hero award.

Patients and volunteers are eligible to nominate for two of the award categories the patient choice award and Moorfields' volunteer of the year award. We would love to get your nominations by Friday 18 January 2019.

The patient choice award

This award recognises individuals and teams who have displayed behaviours that have had a positive impact on patient experience and demonstrated their commitment to going over and above to help patients.

This award is open to patients (past and present), friends and family of patients, carers and foundation trust members to nominate a team or individual who has delivered exemplary patient care over the past 12 months. Your nominee(s) will have displayed behaviours and values that had a positive impact on your patient experience and demonstrated their commitment to going over and above to assist and support our patients.

Volunteer of the year award

This award recognises those who volunteer at or for the benefit of Moorfields either directly or via one of the charities supporting the trust (Moorfields Eye Charity, Friends of Moorfields, the Thomas Pocklington Trust, East London Vision (ELVis) or Ronald McDonald House Moorfields). The volunteer or team of volunteers will have demonstrated one or more of The Moorfields Way commitments over the past 12 months and their commitment to go over and above to support the trust and our patients.

The Moorfields Way

The Moorfields Way defines the way staff and volunteers want to behave with each other and with our patients. To be a Moorfields’ Star, your nominee(s) will have demonstrated one or more of the following commitments.

CARING – makes people feel listened to and valued.

ORGANISED – works efficiently and goes out of their way to minimise the amount of time people are kept waiting, and keeps people informed.

EXCELLENT – makes a significant impact to the delivery of a world-class, professional service.

INCLUSIVE – makes everyone feel informed, involved and part of the team.
